WELCOME TO FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH TROY

Thank you for taking time to visit our website and find out more about FBC Troy. If you are looking for a place to connect with God and with people growing in faith and discipleship, who come together to encourage and support each other through the real struggles of life, we hope you will find your home here with us.

I'm New

Welcome! We are so excited you have decided to check us out online and hope to see you in person at our next gathering. Walking through the door of a new church can sometimes be a little intimidating when you don’t know what to expect.

Here you will find all the information we could think of to answer the typical questions people have. Once you have explored this page, we hope you will feel excited and comfortable about your first visit even before you get here.

If you find you have questions about something not listed here, just give us a call or send us an e-mail. Our contact information is at the bottom of every page.

First Baptist Church is an unaffiliated church, meaning we don’t belong to any organization that oversees or governs our church. We are a Bible believing and teaching church that is seeking to become a church that is indispensable to our community through CONNECTING with God and others, GROWING in Christ, and GIVING BACK to God through the church and the community.

At FBC Troy we believe that every person that enters our doors is not just a number to be counted. You are a unique creation with a name, a story and you matter A LOT to God. FBC wants to connect with you to know you and learn your story. We want to grow with you and watch how God uses your story to serve others.

YES! It's "wear some clothes!" All kidding aside, you will see us in a mix of dressy, business casual and casual attire. The focus should be on the worship experience, not what everyone is wearing. God is concerned with what is in your heart so just get comfortable and come visit us!

There is plenty of parking all around the church. Spots are available near the main entrance that are reserved just for visitors. There is also plenty of handicapped parking near each entrance.

Our Welcome Center is located just inside the front entrance. We encourage you to stop by and pick up information about FBC, ask any questions you have and get directions to where you need to go. We'll also have a small gift for you to show our appreciation for checking us out.

When you enter the worship center, an usher will hand you a worship folder. This folder contains information for the service, announcements and things that are happening. Most of the time there is a handout that can be used while following along with the pastor's message. Our services start with singing and music. We have a mix of traditional and contemporary music and work hard to create an environment that ushers everyone attending into a time of worship. During the music period of our service we have about 3 songs and you will typically hear brief announcements, a scripture reading and there may be a short period of greeting those around us with a handshake. The pastor will share a sermon and then ask everyone to fill out a connection card. The pastor then offers an invitation to anyone who feels led to respond to the sermon or to request prayer. The entire service lasts between an hour and an hour and fifteen minutes. On the first Sunday of the month we share communion. All professing believers in Christ are welcome to participate. We encourage all our guests to sing and take part in our service. Rest assured we will never single you out to say anything or to wear a special name tag. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy your worship experience at FBC, not worry about being put on the spot. So what about that "connection card?" There is no pressure if you don't feel comfortable filling this out. We have a "no hassle guarantee!" But we hope that you will register your presence and give us any feedback you'd like about the service, ask any questions you may have and let us know if you have anything that you would like us to pray about. If you do not want to be contacted, you can note that on the card.

If you have infant through preschool aged children, we have a fully staffed, clean and safe environment with age specific activities that is available during every service. When you sign your child in, both you and the child will receive a matching set of stickers that must be placed on your child and one kept with you. This assures that no one other than the person with the matching sticker can remove the child from the room. Our B.L.A.S.T. program is available during the 9:00am Bible Study and 10:30am services for kids in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Kids in 6th grade on up can attend our Ignite group at 9:00am and attend the main worship service at 10:30am. We take the care and safety of kids very seriously. That's why EVERY person that works with children at our church is required to submit to a background check and to go through a Child Care and Protection Policy course.

So you've attended a service, now what? It's important that you continue to connect with fellow believers in worship and teaching. Jesus told his followers not to forsake this practice.

It's also important that you are growing in your faith and likeness to Jesus. FBC has Life Groups throughout the week and this is a great way to easily make connections and get comfortable. Bible Studies are available at 9:00am on Sunday mornings as well as a Prayer Time and Bible study on Wednesday evenings. These exist to not only help us grow in these qualities, but also allow us to connect with others on a more personal level. Participation in the discussion is encouraged, but if you aren't comfortable, that's fine, too.

We are not only to grow in our faith and likeness to Jesus, we are to put that to use and serve like Jesus did. There are many ways that you can serve, or as we like to call it, giving back, at FBC. There are opportunities to give back within the church, our community and throughout the world.

Information on ways you can connect, grow and give back with FBC are on this website and at our Welcome Center. Visit the links in the corresponding menus to learn more. And if you have questions, feel free to call or e-mail us.
