Chris Placke is our Ignite Youth Director. He graduated from the University of Rio Grande in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology and an Associate's Degree in Fine Woodworking. He currently works as a Senior Process Engineering Technician in Dayton. He is married to Katie Placke, who is the Administrative Assistant here at FBC. If you can’t find him in the halls of FBC, he is most likely at home building furniture or enjoying time with his wife and two Labradors, Toby and Benson.
Chris accepted God into his life as his Lord and Savior when he was 12 years old. It wasn’t until he went to college and got involved in a ministry on campus (S.E.A.R.C.H.) that he began to build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He has been actively involved in Teen and Young Adult ministries ever since. Now his heart continues to desire to make disciples by using Jesus’ example. Mark 3:14, 2 Timothy 2:2, Matthew 28:19-20.
Hi! My name is Joanna Runyan and I mostly grew up in Tipp City, OH. I went to Eastern Kentucky University, where I majored in History Education. Although the Lord has not yet blessed me with a position within a school, I am super excited to use my degree to serve at FBC as the Children’s Ministry Director.
God has gifted me with an incredible family who love Him and taught me to love Him from a young age. My family also taught me the value of serving within the church. Over the years I have gone from being a teen leader in the youth group, to a camp counselor, to a daycare worker, and finally to a children’s ministry leader. You can tell I love kids!
I truly have a heart for children. I love to watch as kids grow in the Lord and as they realize how absolutely amazing God is. I get so excited to watch kids’ faces as they realize our God loved them enough to send us the greatest gift – His Son. It is important to me that these children have a firm Biblical foundation so that as they grow, they will fall even more in love with the Lord and will know how to have a personal relationship with Him.
I love to be dramatic! I was heavily involved in choir and theatre throughout high school and have never really stopped. I also love, love, love to bake. When I am not dancing and singing through the halls, I can be found reading, knitting, or relaxing with my husband Tyler and my Goldendoodle Harvey – just enjoying life!
Candace moved with her family to Troy, Ohio, in August of 1999 and has attended FBC ever since! She met her husband, Brett, right here at FBC and they now have two beautiful daughters, Lindsey and Grace, and a crazy little dog, Reagan, who they lovingly consider to be their “first daughter.”
Candace attended Edison State Community College and graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in 2006. Her office experience began in 2006 at Oakley Chiropractic in Troy, followed by 7 years as Office Manager at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, and in 2014 she began working in the office here at FBC Troy. She also enjoys baking on the side! #candacescupcakes
She loves working and serving the Lord through FBC Troy and looks forward to all that God has planned for this ministry!
