Thank you for taking time to visit our website and find out more about FBC Troy. If you are looking for a place to connect with God and with people growing in faith and discipleship, who come together to encourage and support each other through the real struggles of life, we hope you will find your home here with us.
I have been married to my wife Teresa since July 3, 1982 (she is awesome, you’d like her!) We have a daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Brett Albertini, and precious little granddaughters, Lindsey & Grace. We also have a son, Chad, and daughter-in-law, Melissa. They are all great and love God!
I came to FBC as Lead Pastor in August of 1999. We have seen God do some amazing things here in Troy! I was an Assistant Pastor in Danville, IN for 7 years and a Lead Pastor in Ft. Wayne, IN for 12 years prior to coming to FBC, Troy.
Helping people understand the Word of God so they can live it! I like to preach “Truth applied!” I like to do this through preaching, teaching, and counseling. I view counseling as in-depth discipleship; helping people apply God’s Word to a specific area of need as well as helping them to grow in all areas of life.
I love the outdoors. I enjoy hunting and fishing. I run and lift weights…(to try to stay fit, not win any competitions!) My very favorite thing to do is to spend time with my wife.
I went to Hinckley Elementary School in Hinckley, OH until 4th grade. We moved to Brunswick and I went to Crestview Elementary. I graduated from Brunswick High and Cedarville College (now University). I also graduated from Baptist Bible Seminary in Clarks Summit, PA with a Master’s of Ministry. I have been a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (formerly NANC) since 1990.
I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Carol since 1971. We have four wonderful children and three wonderful sons-in-law – Jon, Shari (Joel), Susan (Kent) and Jennifer (Jarid) - and eight awesome grandchildren - Katie, Kenzie, Landon, Carter, Keegan, Jax, Liam and Arielle. All of us live within a 30 mile radius of Troy and gather as a family every holiday and every Friday evening that we can.
I came to FBC directly from seminary in 1972 to be Minister of Christian Education and Youth. In 1996 my ministry was broadened to that of Associate Pastor.
I grew up with my parents, one older brother and one older sister (Yes. I was the proverbial “spoiled baby” in the family. At least that’s what my siblings always said). We lived on a small farm in rural, fruit growing, up-state New York (Rochester area). The small Baptist church just a block away was a regular and important part in our lives. It was wonderful.
Because of the LORD’S great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23, NIV
Keep on keeping on. 1 Thessalonians 4:1
You will find quiet inspirational, instrumental music playing in the background of my office almost continually. I also enjoy Sousa marches and patriotic music.
The Little Engine that Could, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Lion and the Mouse, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. (I guess my childhood had a big impact on me.)
Yard work, aquatics, walking and research.
Being used by God to help others grow in their relationship with Him.
I grew up in New Hampshire. At the age of 16 I trusted Christ and began my journey as a child of God! I have been blessed by Christian family members, friends, and mentors who have taught, guided, and encouraged me in my walk with the Lord. I’m not perfect but I am so thankful for the grace of God in my life as He continues to mold me into His image.
I was married to my beautiful wife, Heidi, in April of 2005. Three years later, while managing a CVS/Pharmacy, God opened the door for me to begin working full time with youth in our church in Concord, NH, as the Pastor of Student Ministries. I was privileged to create and lead our new middle school youth group as well as oversee all of the children’s ministries. During that time God blessed Heidi and me with two children, Jack and Kate. Through the years, God has strengthened our passion for family ministry. We love seeing families grow in God’s grace by seeking wisdom and strength from God’s Word.
In the fall of 2016 we moved to Troy to begin a new chapter in our family’s life! It wasn’t long before we felt at home! To be honest, FBC already felt like our family even before we officially moved here. I’m so thankful for a church that loves and supports us as we seek to raise our children and serve our community.
I am an avid sports fan. I enjoy rooting for all the professional New England teams (Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, & Bruins). I’m also a loyal University of Michigan fan. And no, that’s not negotiable, even in Ohio. I also enjoy playing golf, hunting, and fishing! Turkey hunting is my favorite. Other than those hobbies I pretty much enjoy doing anything with my kids.
